Angry Doctor

Tuesday, December 27, 2005

When I grow up, I want to become a...

... doctor.

But what kind of doctor?

Thanks to
Dr RW, who provided the link to this test, I now know that my top ten choices should be:

Rank
1. dermatology
2. colon & rectal surgery
3. radiation oncology
4. gastroenterology
5. urology
6. radiology
7. pathology
8. general surgery
9. rheumatology
10. pulmonology

  • Go for aesthetic dermatology.

You get to meet all the tai tais.

    Filthy rich and gullible.

    Who knows?

  • What's a "tai tai"...some synonym for shallow, superficial yuppies I presume ?

That test got my specialty spot on, I'm impressed!

By Anonymous Anonymous, At December 27, 2005 8:59 am

  • Gee, I did the test and the specialty I am working in is the bottom of the list!

Wrong choice of career. Oh well I guess if I change it would be something totally unrelated to practicing medicine :)

  • OZ

With your temperament, you should be:

    1. In pharma sales preferably with MLM.

    2. Sell second hand cars, insurance or property.

    3. Film critic

    4. Opposition politician.

By Blogger uglybaldie, At December 27, 2005 10:26 am

  • Haha what makes you think I am not all of the above already :D

By Blogger Dr Oz bloke, At December 27, 2005 10:32 am

  • Then in the coming elections, I would surely like to see you standing.

We need someone like you with some medical training to keep the leash on all those skullduggerers who are cocking a snook at us, the poor donating public.

By Blogger uglybaldie, At December 27, 2005 10:50 am

  • Ah! Then look out for me lah. I hope to have your support!

If I get elected then I won't go Oz liao :)

By Blogger Dr Oz bloke, At December 27, 2005 11:56 am

  • You going independent or joining one of the clowns' charade?

Suggest you form a new party and concentrate on medical politics. It's an up and coming speciality.

You may still have to go to OZ and have tea with TLH if the people decide you're the MAN. :D

    LMAO.

By Blogger uglybaldie, At December 27, 2005 12:25 pm

  • Haha, JBJ, FS, TLH, CSJ, GMS, FDK?

Are we talking about the same country here?

Politics here is a circus anyway.

Ideally get invitation to walk the red carpet and stand next to THE MAN then get 6 figure monthly salary. Woo hoo! Ask me say what I will say also. Say different die. Dun say also die.

    I no stupid ok?

By Blogger Dr Oz bloke, At December 27, 2005 12:47 pm

  • OZ,

Let's be realistic. I don't think you will get an invitation to tea here. Maybe TLH will invite you to tea but please make sure you bring him ta pau char kway teow, laksa, yong tau foo and assorted delicacies. He sure is missing these in the fairy tale land of OZ where you get a lot of milk and honey but no money and no authentic dirt and sweat flavoured hawkers' fare.

My advice to you if you get invited is to say why you are so dedicated to your patients, blah blah and can't tear yourself away from caring for them. The next thing they'll say is: "Boy, take this as national service". Then you grudgingly say, "Well, but only for a five year term and no more, I want to go back to making more money in the private sector."

    Good luck!

  • Eh uglybaldie, why don't you stand?

You seem to know so much more and can give out advice here and there, right left centre.

    You machiam THE EXPERT!

By Blogger Dr Oz bloke, At December 27, 2005 1:18 pm

  • Oh NO!

I am enjoying my hard earned retirement and watching the clowns' both left and right play out their parts in Act I scene 5.

Besides, we need a nice handsome bloke like you to carry the role not some ugly baldie, walking with the help of the maid.

By Blogger uglybaldie, At December 27, 2005 1:35 pm

  • Not true leh, there appears to be some use still of those ugly oldies...

By Blogger Dr Oz bloke, At December 27, 2005 1:44 pm

  • What Use?

We ugly oldies can only play gateball and 12 inch frank sinatra records.

No fire in the belly like you mate.

The only splutter of a fire is when we see a chio bu walking past. Even then, the momentum is not sustainable. Which reminds me, doc, I need more viaaaaagra!

  • Hey Angry Doc,

Can you name one top local specialist, an undisputed authority in his field, for each of the medical speciality you listed in your post?

Just something to keep in mind in case a feeble old man may require their services.

By Blogger uglybaldie, At December 27, 2005 2:08 pm

  • Haha. I guess the frank answer would be I don't know.

You'll have to rely on your GP to recommend one for you, depending on the symptoms.

By Blogger angry doc, At December 27, 2005 2:42 pm

  • Oh no angry doc, I think you going to kena the you kiasu, kiasi, kiaboh answer/flaming from uglybaldie liao!

By Blogger Dr Oz bloke, At December 27, 2005 3:34 pm

  • hmmm, judging by the way things went with many of my friends, the main questions asked when deciding a speciality were:

    1. How much money?
    2. How are the hours like?
    3. Got chio bu? (hint: ophthalmology)
    4. Part I/II/III etc tough or not?
    5. Got friends already in it?

Very much like any other job considerations.

So much for a desire to to serve...

By Blogger andrew, At December 27, 2005 7:33 pm

  • Hmm for me it was, "doing this specialty can make it easier or harder to migrate?"

By Blogger Dr Oz bloke, At December 27, 2005 8:05 pm

  • Guys,

Down here in Oz...I still don't know what 'tai tai' means ;-P

By Anonymous Anonymous, At December 27, 2005 9:15 pm

  • tai tai = rich woman who lives off her rich husband.
holds no job, doesn't need to.
    lots of bling bling.
spends her time shopping, going out with friends like herself.
    not exactly young or yuppie-ish.
    more middle-aged.

mm.. i guess there could be more

By Anonymous Anonymous, At December 27, 2005 9:22 pm

  • tai tai = filthy rich middle aged, mostly brainless women trying to beat back the ravages of time with all manners of skin tonics, creams, lotions, surgery, face lift, lipo suction etc. etc.

Able to afford all above and at the same time, a handsome tip for the aesthetic dermatologist who can make her look forever young and bosomy like Joan Collins or Elizabeth Taylor when she was 24.

Lots of them here in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore. You can see them wearing designer dresses slinging louis Vuiton bags with chauffeured Mercs and Beemers waiting while they shop and yak, shop and yak with their husbands wheeling, dealing and stealing.

By Blogger uglybaldie, At December 27, 2005 9:58 pm

  • Ta !
