Pen Torch


This is a small torch light. I use it when I need to see better.

So when I hold it to your eyes, I am trying to have a better look at your eyes.

Don't shut them.

When I hold it to your mouth, I want to look inside your mouth.

Open up.

But don't say 'aah' unless I ask you to.

Now say 'aah'.

  • do you get patients coughing into your face when you look at their throats?

    You can see the pharyngeal space narrowing as the muscles contract and that's the cue to move AWAY!!!!

    I have perfected the art of evading it!

    Some patients also very funny.

    They come to see you for eye problem. Then you take torch and want to take a look at their eyes and they offer the mouth.......?

    Reflex action? Common sense right? You have eye problem I look at eye lah. I guess must also tell them lah. Maybe they dunno that if got eye problem look at the eyes better than looking at the mouth. Maybe they think look at mouth can find out what is wrong with the eyes.

    I think they got ear problem, or their brain got problem, they are unable to control their nerves. Or you are too handsome or beautiful.

    Ask them to sit down and wait for waiting number to be display, they want to stand. Then complaint they are too weak to stand anymore. Dying soon.

    Sometimes feel like telling them, cannot STAND, then ask Viagra from your GP. They are very happy to do so. Then you can STAND ALL NIGHT LONG. All nuts!!!

  • Actually I think TCM doctors will look at the tongue as part of the examination to determine an eye problem.

    But I doubt the patients are that informed to be offering the mouth to the doctor for that reason.

    Aiyah there are weird people around lah. Courtesy is not a strong trait of Singaporeans.

    They do all kinds of wayang to get what they want. Bargain also. Get MC liao then at the counter say dowan this medicine, dowan that medicine, that medicine how much, can dowan all medicine no need to pay?

  • Wonder why doctors is so impatient to get things done when people's lives are at stake. Care to comment? Have only encounter "few" (2%) caring doctors till now.

    I don't think I know the answer to that. But you seem to have your own answer (98% of them are not caring) and a ready solution (stick with the 2% who are).
