Not sure if...
I AM glad the Ministry of Health is reviewing doctors' salaries ('MOH to review doctors' pay'; Wednesday) and hope that the welfare and salaries of the unsung heroes in hospitals will also be looked into.
They include nurses, physiotherapists, speech therapists and nutritionists.
Although public hospitals have a long way to go to catch up with private hospitals, the step to review salaries shows that the ministry is becoming more open to changes.
However, I hope this will not result in an increase in patients' bills.

Sure, why not? Raise service provider's pay, but keep the price to consumers the same. Don't see any problem there...

Someone got to pay increase of salaries. Sad to say inevitably they will charge on patient bills.
Won't be surprise if we might have to pay more. Sigh!

Dear Mr. David,
I am glad you are WISE enough to VOICE out your utter most concern for healthcare staffs' most heartily concerns, even many or almost all DO NOT DARE to voice out in words or in any sounds infront of their 'Upper Level' but in some places like foodcourts, or shopping malls and even in the Loo near their working amenities. I agreed 199% with you that “Although public hospitals have a long way to go to catch up with private hospitals, ...” YES! I truly Agree BUT not “However, I hope this will not result in an increase in patients' bills.”
here is a breakdown on what I mean:
1 in order to catch up, the bills charge have to match with private hospital too. In order for a runner to run faster to reach the Line, even he is shortest by his height, he has to boost up his acceleration speed more that other runners. Of cause that may means he need to pump in more than 2 tonnes of Milo Powder prior to the race. That is Investment to overcome his shortcoming
2 to support my statement, here is a comparison of bills for one specific condition. First Class Ward.

Last and not least, in order to pay the staffs as well as private hospitals, Bill to patients, SIZE DOES MATTER! ^^
Very SINCEREly YOURS,

There are the unsung heroes in the hospitals that deserve higher pay. but the patients will see that reflected in their bills in some way.
